Mantis

This chair was designed to push the boundaries of wood lamination as a process. This is a technique that enables wood to take a new and exciting form. Slicing the wood into delicate 0.6mm layers, it becomes possible to bend, twist and reshape wood in ways that would be impossible with solid timber.

The layers are then glued back together and, in this case, compressed within a custom vacuum bag before being twisted over a former, locking this dynamic shape into place. Crafted from sapele with an oiled finish, this bespoke chair is completed with green leather upholstery, adding comfort and a tactile contrast to its sculptural frame. A truly unique piece of furniture.
