Dewhurst I Walnut Office Desk

The brief here was for a walnut office desk but it was left wonderfully open-ended, so a great opportunity to create something truly technique. The top is a single large slab of English walnut, and so to keep this stable over time, the legs and cabinet are connected to reinforcing bearers attached with locking dovetails to the underside of the slab. A hidden but very important feature. The smooth-running drawers comprise textured American black walnut fronts and sycamore handles, providing useful storage space.

Choosing a bespoke desk over a mass-produced option means the furniture is tailored not only to fit the space, but also to reflect the personality and working style of its owner. This office desk offers a generous surface for creative or professional work, while the carefully considered joinery complements its organic form with fine craftsmanship to ensure it will endure and be enjoyed for generations. The final design measured 1600mm (length) x 600mm (depth) x 700mm (height).
