This handcrafted chopping board is made from solid walnut and shaped as a single, flowing form that celebrates the natural variation and warmth of the timber. Designed to be both practical and visually distinctive, it works equally well as an everyday kitchen object or as a considered, long-lasting gift.

The board is cut and finished by hand, with softly rounded edges and a gentle handle that gives it a sculptural quality while remaining comfortable to use. The rich grain of the walnut is allowed to speak for itself, with subtle tonal shifts across the surface that give each board its own character. Finished with food-safe oils, the surface is smooth, durable, and intended to age gracefully with regular use.

While perfectly suited to food preparation, the board also works beautifully as a serving or presentation piece. Its organic outline allows it to sit comfortably on a worktop or dining table, making it as useful for sharing bread and cheese as it is for everyday chopping. This dual purpose makes it particularly well suited as a bespoke wedding gift - an object designed to be used often, rather than stored away.

Each chopping board is made to order, allowing proportions, handle details, and finishes to be subtly adjusted. Walnut is shown here, chosen for its durability and depth of colour, but alternative hardwoods and finishes can be discussed. As with all my work, attention is paid to balance, tactility, and longevity, resulting in a piece of custom made furniture for the kitchen that feels personal and enduring.

Whether commissioned as a wedding gift, anniversary present, or one-off kitchen piece, the chopping board reflects a broader approach to making: thoughtful design, honest materials, and careful handwork brought together in a functional object intended to last for years.
