Bespoke Furniture Maker

I am a bespoke furniture designer and maker that came to this work through a simple desire to make beautiful objects that last: pieces that feel considered, well crafted and engaging. Furniture that is both functional and also a joy to live with over time. For this reason, most of what I make is built in solid timber, shaped and joined in ways that respect the nature of the material and allow it to age with grace.
 

My work is rooted in an interest in forms, textures, and material behaviours. I am naturally drawn to flowing, asymmetric shapes rather than rigid geometry, and to surfaces that invite touch. Curves, texture, and tactility therefore play leading roles in my designs. I’m also particularly interested in how light interacts with the finished pieces and how this can shift the character of a piece even over the course of a day. Constituent to this consideration is the choice of finish - I love experimenting with different and sometimes unexpected materials and finishes. Building bespoke furniture means tailoring this to the situation in which it will be presented, so when commissioning work you can expect a discussion of lighting, as well as the general style and character of your home. 
 

Although I primarily work in solid wood, I also incorporate other materials where they serve the idea of the piece; slate, leather, glass, and Jesmonite have all found their place in my work. Traditional joinery and careful handwork sit alongside a more sculptural, free-form approach. Projects often stem from past material exploration, whether carving, laminating, casting, or testing structure, before resolving this into a new piece.
 

This site shows a selection of past work, including solid walnut desks, a range of bespoke hifi cabinets, vinyl storage, and other bespoke living room furniture. Many commissions are designed around specific objects or ways of living: a particular turntable or valve amplifier, a treasured vase, an extensive drinsk collection or simply the daily rhythm of work. My underlying aim is to make furniture that will become the heirlooms of the future and every piece that I make is designed and built with a quality that will stand the test of time.
